It’s a girl! (I think)

Posted on

Around 10:30 tonight, Sadie gave birth to a very curly, black ewe (I think) lamb. Here’s a picture of the lamb just a few minutes old.

I’ll post the whole story in the morning when I’m more awake. Let’s just say I did end up using those gloves.

  1. I agree with Laz. Incredible, amazing, the miracle of life. Hope Mom and baby are doing well this morning. Hope it wasn’t too much of an ordeal for anyone, humans included.

  2. Wow! I’m so in awe of you all helping with the lambing!

As soon as Catie saw the picture, she started reciting ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep.’ Heh.

  3. I grew up on a farm and I would sometimes help the cows give birth and watching those little calves be born are some of the most wonderful memories of my childhood. Although why they always have to give birth at 3 in the morning is a mystery to me.

  4. Everyone at work who has had animals (sheep, horses, cows, etc) says they always pick the worst time to give birth. At night, during a storm, when it’s freezing out, whatever. They just KNOW.
