NO, NO, NO! J. Cullinane, do not go for a visit! Trust me, Carol will make you work.

The downstairs bathroom IS very CREEPY & SCARY.

Just like I think Anya has too many toys, I think Carol and Andy have too many trees. I am sure Carol and Andy think I have too many opinions.

@J. Cullinane I think a lot of it depends on personal taste. While there was nothing wrong with much of this house, we did not like it. Actually, I hated it. We've tried to prioritize our projects, and after the kitchen/dining room/bread box is done, the items left on the (long) list aren't as vital. But, yeah, there is always something because even if everything was exactly how you wanted when you moved in, stuff breaks and wears out. Things need new paint, trees get overgrown and have to be trimmed, the driveway gets canyons etched into it. Houses/property are living things that have to be taken care of, like pets or cars. After this current project is done, we have a bathroom downstairs that we never use because it is so scary. We'll probably start collecting items for that...I think we already have a light fixture we found on clearance. Of course, with only one income soon, things will slow down. But yet, bathroom downstairs remodel, finish plant room, paint exterior of house, install new windows, build a deck out front for the hot tub (hahaha), trim trees all over the property, fix up gardens, declutter barn, declutter workshop and put in insulation, drywall, tile floors, new windows. Pretty much we have stuff to work on for the next ten years. Wanna come visit and help?

I wonder (so I guess this is a question), that when you have your own house/property…is the home improvement just an endless, non-stop thing or is there a sort of end in mind where you can stop and enjoy? You guys are always on these cool projects and obtaining interesting materials (and as someone living on a sizable piece of land, I know how you can’t just leave it be), but it also sounds so exhausting!

1. I finished dehydrating the apples I’d prepped, but there are so many more! AIE! I did the peeling/coring/slicing outside last time because it is messy with sticky apple juice flying all over the place. It’s too cold now for that, I think. Maybe if I wore rubber gloves to keep my hands sort of warm? And I need to dig out all the canning stuff because I want to can some of the apples for pies and/or can apple sauce.
2. Does that mean I have to make bread?
3. I have to cook. It’s in my new job description and performance plan. I don’t want to get a bad review at my 90 day evaluation.

1. Sorry we didn’t work on apple processing when Gramps and I came to visit. It would have been difficult when the kitchen sink was outside, literally! Thought a lot about our predecessors who cooked on wood stoves, had no plumbing, and no electricity. We have it sooo easy!
2. Am very excited about seeing some pictures of the new space. Maybe you could call it the Bread Box?
3. Just because June Cleaver cooked doesn’t mean you have to. After all, we don’t want the family to get food poisoning!
4. Does Aunt Rebecca love snails?
5. Hmmm…..TSA scans and pat downs. I have been wondering if Gramps and I will have to be scanned and/or patted down on our upcoming plane ride? Has anyone had recent encounters?
