It is definitely easier (and safer) to drive up and down hills rather than across them. Although if the grass is still somewhat wet, and high, the tires sometimes have problems gaining traction going uphill when I first start a pass, but that was mostly just down by the pond and barn.

Today I ran over a piece of quartz a little smaller than a football. It's now in a few pieces, but I can feel some large chunks now missing in at least one of the blades. Everything still cuts fine, but I suppose it means I won't be able to sharpen them when they get dull.

It does get some getting used to when driving those things. The first time Carol's brother drove ours he almost ran into the back of his car, ran over some phlox, and gave the lawn a G.I. haircut in many areas!

We have a very small yard, 0.44 acres, in a subdivision and I always resisted buying one for that reason. But, the bargain Andy found for us changed my mind. Also, the last time I mowed with our push, self-propelled mower, the HEAT and HUMIDITY here in Georgia almost did me in.
